TAKE BLOOD TESTS REGULARLY

Blood tests can be scary for childrens, so try to be a calming presence during the procedure. Hold your child’s hand or offer a comforting object-this might help. Tell your child that the needle prick may pinch a little, but that it will be over very soon enough. With younger children, try singing a song, saying the alphabet, or counting together while the blood is being drawn. Most blood and other (stool, urine throat swap) tests are recommended to detect illness. But paediatricians recommend that all toddlers get tested for lead in the blood at 1 and 2 years of age since young children are at risk for lead poisoning if they eat or inhale particles of lead-based paint. High lead levels can cause stomach problems and headaches and have also been linked to some development problems.
